Church protocols

  • Vos Estis Lux Mundi

Church protocols

Several documents, statutes and protocols have been developed to guide Church Authorities in the safe practice of their ministries.

As well as canon law and civil law obligations, Church protocols exist to ensure consistent interpretation of administrative and liturgical procedures of the Church.

National Response Protocol

The National Response Protocol is a new framework for Catholic entities across Australia to respond consistently to people raising concerns or allegations of child abuse.

Vos Estis Lux Mundi

In May 2019 Pope Francis issued the apostolic letter motu proprio Vos Estis Lux Mundi which sets out complaint and investigation procedures regarding crimes of sexual abuse committed by clerics.

Our Common Mission and Integrity in Our Common Mission

Integrity in Our Common Mission has been developed as the primary code of conduct for clergy, religious and laity.

Registered Charity

Australian Catholic Safeguarding Ltd respectfully acknowledges all Traditional Custodians of the land and waters of Australia. We pay respect to their Elders, past and present, and young leaders of today and the future. ACSL commits itself to the ongoing work of reconciliation with our Aboriginal families and communities.

ACSL acknowledges the lifelong trauma of abuse victims and survivors and their families; the failure of the Catholic Church to protect, believe and respond justly to children and adults at risk; and the consequent breaches of community trust.
